Roman age- Building materials

The documents now available let us suppose the existence of kilns for the production of pots, boxes and building materials in the Compito area.Their activity stopped from the foreman history to the middle age. There were probably kilns next to rural houses, but there were also real factories. There are many tiles and bricks of different sizes and shapes.

There is also a particular type of brick, stamped with a symbol which is a very important record for that period. The symbol was impressed on the bricks before baking them in order to recognize the factory which had produced it. These kinds of bricks testify to the presence of an industrial production.

They also testify to the presence of Pansiana products. The names found on the stamps are from Rimini. There are also the names of the consuls consuls Gentiano and Basso, from 211 A.C.
